Private ADHD Assessments
Understanding ADHD and How We Can Help
At The Thomas Connection, we specialise in helping women gain clarity and confidence through compassionate, expert ADHD assessments and support. Living with ADHD can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve spent years wondering why things feel harder for you than for others.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore ADHD or looking for the right provider to guide you, we’re here to help you better understand yourself and take steps toward thriving.
Here’s how our ADHD assessment process works:

1. Free Clarity Call (15 minutes)
Finding the right provider for your ADHD assessment is an important first step. This free, no-obligation call with Michaela Thomas, senior Clinical Psychologist and founder of The Thomas Connection, is your opportunity to see if we’re the compassionate support you are looking for.
During the call, we’ll discuss how we approach ADHD assessments with compassionate, expert care—especially when ADHD overlaps with challenges like anxiety, stress, perfectionism, and burnout, which are common in women. It’s simply a chance to ask questions and explore whether working together feels right before booking your screening appointment.
Cost: FREE
2. Initial Assessment for ADHD
This 1-hour session with senior Clinical Psychologist Michaela Thomas is an important first step in your ADHD assessment process. It helps determine whether ADHD is likely to meet diagnostic criteria before moving into the full diagnostic interview.
During the session, we’ll:
- Review your history form, including your life experiences, current challenges, strengths, and how your relationships may play a role in your experiences.
- Look at screening results for ADHD, depression, and anxiety, and explore how these may overlap.
- Decide together whether to proceed with the full diagnostic interview and what this next step entails.
This session is a key part of the ADHD assessment, giving you deeper insight into yourself and a clear plan forward. If you move on to the full assessment, the cost of this session will be deducted from the total fee.
Cost: £250

3. The Diagnostic Assessment
If you proceed with the full diagnostic assessment, this process will include a 3-hour structured interview held virtually over Zoom, spread across several appointments within a month. This allows time and space to reflect between sessions, ensuring you feel supported throughout the process.
During these sessions, we’ll gently explore how ADHD traits might be showing up in your life—at home, at work, or in your relationships. You’ll also reflect on your childhood years to map how your experiences have developed over time.
As part of the £2000 assessment package, we’ll ask someone who’s known you since childhood—such as a family member or old friend—to complete a short report and screening form. If needed, we may arrange a brief Zoom call with them to gain additional insights into your early years.
If no one is available, we’ll explore your memories or use other information, such as school reports, to create a full picture of your experiences. We may also use screening tools to explore traits of autism if this could better explain your experiences. However, please note that the ADHD assessment package does not include a full autism assessment.
If you would prefer an in-person day retreat assessment, which provides a personalised, immersive approach in a single day, this can also be arranged, simply ask for more information when we have our initial call.
Cost: £2000 (includes the 3-hour diagnostic assessment, speaking with a loved one if available, and the diagnostic report)
4. Diagnostic Report
After your assessment, you’ll receive a clear and easy-to-understand report explaining our findings and the reasons behind any diagnosis we make. It will include personalised recommendations, guidance on next steps, and helpful resources for support and treatment.
If appropriate, you can share this report with an NHS provider such as your GP, to request shared care, ensuring continuity and support for your treatment plan.

5. Building a Personalised Support Plan
If your assessment confirms ADHD, we’ll work with you to explore support options tailored to your needs. This could include therapy, medication, or a combination of approaches—focusing on what feels right and works best for you.
If you require titration of ADHD medication, or medication for general mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, we can refer you to one of our trusted external psychiatrists for consultations around medication.
As part of your support plan and ADHD assessment package, you’ll also receive three months of free access to The ADHD Club, our membership programme specifically designed for women with ADHD. This offers ongoing community support, monthly workshops, expert insights, and practical resources to help you thrive.
Our Commitment
We’re here to make this process as clear and supportive as possible. Our goal is to help you better understand yourself and what you’re experiencing, while guiding you toward the next steps that feel right for you.
If ADHD Assessment isn’t quite right for you, then we do offer additional resources and options via The ADHD Club – a monthly membership, The Pause, Purpose, Play podcast or via our blog section.
